Dr. Quincy Moore created the AMCD Mentoring Program in 1992 at a graduate student reception at an ACA conference. In an effort to involve students, Dr. Moore created a three-prong student program with (1) a panel of professionals and scholars to provide information and answer questions for students, (2) a college fair to recruit students, and (3) a reception for graduate students to mingle and meet other students and professionals. Dr. Kimberly Frazier was mentored by Dr. Quincy Moore to chair the Mentoring Program in 2004 and has since added the Research Symposium component to feature culture centered research conducted by graduate students and newly graduated counseling professionals.
