President’s Message

Dear AMCD Members,

Catherine ChangI am truly honored to begin my term as President of the Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development. It is with deep gratitude that I accept this role, generously entrusted to me by our esteemed members. I extend my heartfelt thanks to Dr. Carlos Hipolito-Delgado and the Leadership Team for their steadfast dedication and contributions that have strengthened our association. Their efforts have laid a strong foundation for our ongoing work.

As we move into the new term, I am excited to collaborate with the Leadership Team. Together, we are eager to continue AMCD’s essential mission while broadening our focus on racial and ethnic identities, examining the intricate interplay of various social statuses. We aim to enhance our cooperation with other counseling organizations, highlighting the importance of addressing race and ethnicity in our practices. Additionally, AMCD has a long-standing tradition of nurturing future leaders, and we will persist in supporting emerging professionals in our field.

In line with our dedication to community wellness, we are proud to introduce a new initiative, the Happy Family Store, focused on the sale of medicines. This project will extend our reach and impact by providing essential health resources to families, furthering our mission of holistic well-being.

Thank you for your trust and support as we embark on this journey. I am eager to work alongside the Executive Council and all AMCD members to advance the vital work of multicultural counseling.

Warm regards,

Catharina Y. Chang, Ph.D., LPC, NCC, CPCS
